Abstract

Students are away from campus and it is impractical to have live classes in college and university campuses. The Covid 19 pandemic largely disrupted the education sector globally and has made every individual to live in a new normal environment. This pandemic has made teaching fraternity to redefine the teaching-learning process and has resulted in remote-online teaching. Every educationalist across the world were forced to set-up an e-learning platform in their campuses to continue the existing learning process without interruption. A new technology driven remote learning was the only possible as an alternative and the major challenge was to ensure the aspects that was normally present in an in-person (face-to-face class) is delivered in online teaching. Kumaraguru College of Technology one of the leading engineering college located in industrial city of South India, Coimbatore, was well prepared to face this unprecedented challenge. Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent of the institute took a timely decision to empower the faculty for the new normal by institutionalizing an e-learning platform called Kumaraguru Online Education (KOED). KOED is a blended learning platform conceptualized by a team of senior members and academic leaders, with their foresight, experience, and expertise to enhance the learnability of the students through world-class technological intervention.
