Mutual fund and index industry in India have developed rapidly and gained a lot of popularity from the past couple of decades, especially after the incorporation of Unit Trust of India in 1964. There has evolved parallel a rich attainable educational literature such as numerous subjects associated with mutual funds. One of the most regularly addressed topics inside the modern-day literature is investor’s belief and preferences, approximately various mutual price range schemes and the factors which affect the exceptional elegance of buyers to put money into mutual finances. I perform an initial inquiry into the nature of geographical penetration and distribution of mutual finances in India in addition to their all likelihood determinants. Using a questionnaire survey, I accumulate qualitative and quantitative evidence from fund managers on the character and determinants in their geographical presence in the course of the country. Distribution channels seem to play a major role in fund penetration and facilitating those rather than seeking to enhance demand through economic literacy can be an extra powerful manner of accomplishing better fund penetration.
