The Level of Aggression in Consumers and Non-Consumers of Cannabis in Smoking Form

Abstract

Substance abuse usually begins in adolescence. Adolescents are poly-substance abuser. They mostly widely use tobacco, alcohol and marijuana; nicotine and alcohol are termed "gateway" drugs. The several risk factors have been identified among adolescent substance abuse. These include high level of family conflicts, academic difficulties, mental disorder, depression, conduct disorder and early onset of cannabis smoking. The objective of this study is to see the level of aggression in consumers and non-consumers of Cannabis in smoking form. The sample consists of 120 people (60 consumers and 60 non-consumers) from college students and working people in Delhi NCR. The psychological tool used is Aggression Questionnaire. The results indicated that there was high level of aggression among the consumers of Cannabis rather than the non-consumers. Findings also stated that consumers of Cannabis were high in hostility and low in verbal aggression.
