Abstract

Retailing includes all the activities involved in selling goods or services directly to final consumers
for personal, Nonbusiness use. Retailing in India is one of the pillars of its economy and accounts for
14 to 15 percent of its gross domestic product (GDP). This paper provides full information about
retailing industry in India. Need of this study has been created to study the meaning; importance; and
challenges of Indian retailing. Research methodology used in this research paper is based on
secondary data collected from various source such as books; journals; magazines; research paper;
websites and primary data collected with the help of telephonic interactions; face to face interviews
and survey results collected with the help of questionnaires. In this paper our main focus is to
highlight the retailing industry in India
