Abstract

Today’s business society is going through a massive change due to multiple factors. How those changes affect organisational behaviour and human resource management (HRM) is the topic of this paper. HRM is needed to deal with business life changes. Most experts agree that change is motivating the modern day managers, to fit the organisation's structure and process to the demands of the changing environment. The new global managers are more than just executives. In today's business world, workers are ready to do their best, and they should also expect the best in return. They should (be taught to) work with complementarities for facing external competition. They should work as a group and gel together as a team. This research is inspired by certain emerging trends in the business environment in general and HRM in particular. It is descriptive and qualitative. The data are collected from various secondary sources. An attempt has been made to analyse HRM practices and concepts and how the changes and innovations in them affect the quality of modern business. An excellent total quality management (TQM) practice ensures the right person for the right job and vice versa. This aspect too is given importance in this paper along with knowing and understanding the new HR paradigms. One of the findings of our study is that innovations in HRM help in reducing the employee costs and thereby increasing the productivity in the organisation which results in job satisfaction.
