Awareness of Electronic Banking among Customers in Kolhapur City

Abstract

The banking sector plays a very important role in the economy. Electronic Banking is a new trend in the field of Banking.  Due to the internet and technological advances banking has changed from traditional branch banking to online banking. E-Banking is nothing but the use of technology to deliver banking products and services to its customers. The present paper has focused on the study of the relationship between awareness and adoption of e-banking. The awareness of different services provided under e-banking is studied. The data used for the study is collected from 350 customers within the Kolhapur city area with the help of the interview schedule. Findings reveal that Credit card and mobile banking awareness is minimum among bank customers.ATM awareness is maximum in e-banking services by customers.

Shrikrishna Shankar Mahajan, Professor

Dr. Shrikrishna Mahajan is Professor in Commerce and Management. His research interest is in accounting, finance and rural management areas. He has completed his doctoral work on Disinvestment in Public Sector Undertakings in India. He has completed research projects funded by agencies like UGC, Bank of India and ICSSR etc. on entrepreneurial finance and financial inclusion.  He is also working on accounting policies and entrepreneurship development.
