Abstract

With the evolving economic conditions and forces of globalization, it has become a need to adapt to changes for the organization. For higher productivity and satisfactory human resources, the organization must embody its culture with its needs. This study aims at understanding the differences in organizational culture and perception of change capacity amongst employees in public and private sector organizations through gap analysis. The objective of this study is to conduct a gap analysis on the existing and preferred status of culture in public and private sector organizations and exploring the perceptions of change capacity at the managerial level. The rationale behind the study is that nowadays organization must come out of traditional work cultures and adapt to changes with due respect to expanding their capacities to manage the human resources more effectively. According to the resource-based view, employees are the resources and assets to the organization. Consequently, organizations need to figure out their needs and evaluate, rectify and implement strategies that enhance the well-being of an organization. The study uses gap analysis and thematic analysis over a sample of 120 employees to estimate the differences in organizational culture and perception of change capacity amongst the employees of public and private sector organization.
