Abstract

Human Resource Management is a relatively young discipline. In recent years, it has undergone a rapid evolution. With the globalization of the world economy, the marketplace has become highly complex, turbulent, and competitive. People are at the heart of business success. Today, the fundamental need of organizations is agility, responsiveness, innovation or transcendence, efficiency, and execution for sustainable competitive advantage. It is here that performance management can help organizations to develop to their fullest capacity. It is an integrated system and is a vital link between the performance of an individual employee and the attainment of the strategic goals of an organizational excellence and HR development. This article paper presents conceptual framework of performance management. It consists of the basic concept of performance management, objectives, process, significance and role of HR professionals in performance management.
