Entrepreneurship Development Initiative in Tripura: Special Reference to Finance Under “Swavalamban Scheme” in Unakoti District
Abstract
Entrepreneurship development is an essential pathway to create employment opportunities and accelerate economic development. The involvement of women in entrepreneurial activities is also important, as is the involvement of male entrepreneurs. Literature suggests that there are inconsistencies in the distribution of financial benefits among women in comparison to their male counterparts. The present study has made an attempt to discover the representation of females in the entrepreneurial and self-employment schemes of the government. Furthermore, the study stressed the role of banks and the industry department in maintaining equality in the case of finance for entrepreneurship development, and it is based on secondary data from the industry and commerce departments that shows the gender-biased attitude of bankers and also the sponsoring agencies involved in the implementation process of the Swavalamban Scheme in the Unakoti district of Tripura.
