Entrepreneurship Policy in promoting Startup in Darjeeling District in West Bengal

Abstract

Nowadays the topic called Startup has been receiving very good attention in many parts of the world. In India, the number of startups has been increasing day by day in West Bengal. Darjeeling district is no exception. The young minds have a lot of new ideas which are coming up as startup, small & medium enterprises in Darjeeling district. Various initiatives have been taken by the government of India to encourage the startup and entrepreneurship. The paper highlighted the entrepreneurship policy towards persuading a startup in the Darjeeling district, West Bengal. This study is mainly based on the literature available related to the topic and tries to cover the startup ecosystem of Darjeeling district and Siliguri sub-division registered in startupindia.gov.in website. There is a total of 136 from Darjeeling district and 278 from Siliguri subdivision and the paper has mentioned only the first 50 startups registered on the website with the name of the startup and their focus industry. The Darjeeling district's emerging startup ecosystem is indicative of the area's capacity for innovation and entrepreneurship. This article seeks to provide an overview of the wide range of industries and niches that are propelling entrepreneurial activity in the region through an analysis of the registered startups. It also emphasizes how crucial it is to have programs and policies that support the startup ecosystem to promote job creation and economic growth.
