Blockchain Technology's Applications in the Educational Space
Abstract
This research paper discusses the benefits and drawbacks of employing blockchain technology in the educational field. The digitisation and decentralisation of educational credentials, augmentation, and the encouragement of lifelong learning are the key applications of blockchain in education that have been suggested. Some of the key issues considered relate to data protection laws like the General Data Protection Regulation, which provide challenges for application developers and privacy issues. Scalability arises due to slow blockchain transactions and the problem of scalability. In addition, the challenges of market adoption and innovation highlight that blockchain in education is a relatively fledgling innovation that the governing bodies of educational institutions often ignore or consider in a cautious way.
