Abstract

Many modern marketing organizations struggle to overcome the market fragmentation of disconnected customer data platforms, campaign engines, content management solutions, and delivery systems. Existing point-to-point integrations and batch-based pipelines are brittle and become an increasing burden as businesses change‚ resulting in delayed campaign delivery‚ inconsistent personalized offers‚ lack of a consistent personalization strategy‚ or divergent eligibility logic across touchpoints. In contrast to system-centric approaches, event-driven architecture enables near real-time response to customer actions by means of standardized, asynchronous publication and consumption of events. This is implemented by a workflow orchestration layer between the specialized systems that implements business intent, as defined by the marketing users, with the help of declarative content artifacts, as executable workflows with consistent decisioning across all activation channels. Building event-driven marketing orchestration systems requires accounting for event schema design choices‚ message streaming infrastructure‚ state management patterns‚ inter-service communication patterns‚ and how to build all this reliably at enterprise scale. Examples of how this impacts the marketing technology stack include increasing campaign velocity‚ increasing personalization precision‚ improving operational efficiency‚ and decreasing engineering maintenance costs. They realize the unified customer experience across web, mobile, app, and email touchpoints, with improved campaign engagement metrics and a competitive advantage in the fast-evolving digital markets.
