Abstract

The study has been carried out to understand the role of SIDBI in promoting financial inclusion and improving credit access for MSMEs in India. The main purpose of the study is to examine how SIDBI supports MSMEs through different financial inclusion activities and improves the availability of formal credit facilities. Both primary and secondary data were used for conducting the study. Primary data was collected from 40 MSME respondents by using a structured questionnaire method. Secondary data was collected from SIDBI reports, RBI publications, government reports, official documents, and relevant research articles. The study followed a descriptive research design to understand the views and experiences of MSMEs regarding financial services and credit facilities. Regression analysis was used to examine the relationship between selected independent variables and credit accessibility for MSMEs. The findings of the study explain that SIDBI has made a positive contribution towards improving credit access for MSMEs through digital financial services, financial support programmes, financial inclusion initiatives, and government-supported schemes. The study also shows that better access to formal financial services helps MSMEs reduce their dependence on informal sources of finance. Easy availability of credit can support business expansion, investment, working capital requirements, and overall business growth. The study concludes that continued improvement in digital financial services, awareness programmes, and financial support can help SIDBI strengthen financial inclusion and credit accessibility among MSMEs in India.
