In this paper, the investigator focuses on the role of higher education in context of women empowerment. Women constitute about 48.2% of population of our country as per the last census data. The principle of gender equality is enshrined in the preamble of Indian Constitution. Still, we are not reaching our goal in the women empowerment phase. Women empowerment is a global issue and the Government of India celebrated the year 2001 as a Women Empowerment Year, but there are saviour hurdles in reaching the goal. The investigator has discussed in detail about the new challenges for empowering the women in our country, and we have given the suggestions to the government to come forward to provide financial support as well as social support for reaching the destiny of empowerment.
