Abstract

Women's contributions to the world economy are indispensable. As women continue to break barriers in diverse sectors, economies benefit from increased productivity, innovation, and resilience. Gender equality, equitable access to education and financial resources, and policies promoting women's participation in the workforce are essential for harnessing the full potential of women in economic development. Over the years, India has made significant strides in this direction, recognizing that the empowerment of women is not just a matter of human rights but also a prerequisite for social and economic development. Women's economic development in India has been making significant progress in recent years. The female labor force participation rate has increased from 25% in 1990 to 30% in 2020, and women are now more likely to be educated than ever before. This paper aims to study the contribution of women in the economic development of the nation, and also overview the steps being taken in India to support women empowerment and its participation in the economy. women empowerment Women empowerment in India refers to the process of enabling women to reach their full potential and participate equally in all parts of society. It encompasses various strategies and interventions aimed at promoting gender equality in economic activities, ultimately contributing to the overall development of societies.
