Abstract

Haryana, a state in northern India with a rich cultural heritage, grapples with a paradox: economic growth alongside significant gender inequality. This imbalance is reflected in the skewed sex ratio, limited educational and employment opportunities for women, and entrenched patriarchal norms. This study delves into the efforts taken by the state to address these challenges through gender-inclusive welfare policies. It aims to analyze the effectiveness of state policies in empowering women in Haryana and identify areas for improvement. While adopting a mixed-method approach, the study examines various aspects of these policies, including their design, implementation, and impact on various facets of women's lives, such as education, economic participation, and social mobility. By exploring these policies and their outcomes, this study seeks to contribute to a broader understanding of gender-based empowerment strategies in the context of a developing state like Haryana. Across the board, provide a source of valuable insights for policymakers, advocates, and stakeholders working towards creating a more equitable and inclusive society for women in Haryana and beyond. This study aims to advance knowledge of gender-based empowerment tactics in the context of emerging states like Haryana by examining these policies and their effects. It also clarifies the socioeconomic causes of gender inequality and offers solutions for closing the gap. Policymakers, advocates, and stakeholders striving to build a more inclusive and equitable society for women in Haryana and beyond will benefit greatly from this research, which also serves as a model for similar programs in other regions facing gender imbalance.
