Unlocking Employee Retention: Empowering Leaders as Catalysts
Abstract
In today’s fiercely competitive business world, organizations must deal with the essential problem of
employee retention. For an organization to succeed and endure, it must be able to draw and keep
talented employees. While various factors contribute to employee retention, the role of leaders within organizations has emerged as a significant influence on employees’ decision to stay or leave. This research paper examines the role of leaders in employee retention and explores the strategies and practices that effective leaders employ to enhance retention rates. The first section of the paper
reviews the body of research on employee retention and identifies the many elements that affect an
employee's decision to stay or go. It then delves into the specific role that leaders play in this process, emphasizing their impact on employee engagement, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment. The paper also examines the challenges and potential barriers that leaders may encounter when attempting to improve employee retention, such as resistance to change, organizational culture, and limited resources. It discusses the importance of leadership development programs and training initiatives to equip leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively address these challenges.
