IMPACT OF STRESS ON EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE; A STUDY WITH REFERENCE TO LULU MALL TRIVANDRUM

Abstract

Stress has emerged as a critical factor influencing the performance and well-being of employees in
organizations. This study aims to examine the importance of stress on employee performance by
focusing on Lulu Mall, located in Trivandrum. The study aims to identify the various factors that
contribute to stress among employees and explore the impact of stress on their performance. Stress is an important factor affecting the performance of employees in an organization. The study attempts to study the importance of stress on employee performance of Lulu Mall, Trivandrum. The study tries to identify the various factors affecting stress and its impact on employee performance. The results of the study shows that stress of the employees has significant impact on their performance. The results of the study revealed several factors that contribute to stress among employees at Lulu Mall. These factors include workload, job demands, time pressure, lack of control over work, interpersonal conflicts, and organizational culture. The study found that these factors, when experienced chronically, significantly increase stress levels among employees. Furthermore, the study identified a strong correlation between stress and employee performance. High levels of stress were found to be detrimental to employee performance, leading to decreased productivity, reduced job satisfaction, increased absenteeism, and higher turnover rates. The study also highlighted the adverse effects of stress on the physical and mental well- being of employees, further affecting their overall performance and job satisfaction. Based on these findings, it is recommended that Lulu Mall and similar organizations take proactive measures to
manage and reduce stress among their employees. Strategies such as implementing stress management programs, promoting work–life balance, providing necessary resources and support, and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment can significantly alleviate stress and enhance employee performance.
