Abstract

Food wastage is a significant global challenge that coexists with widespread hunger and food insecurity. Every day, large quantities of edible food are discarded by households, restaurants, hotels, catering services, and event organizers, while millions of people struggle to access nutritious meals. The lack of an effective mechanism to connect food donors with needy individuals and organizations contributes to both resource wastage and social inequality. This paper presents the FoodBridge Application, a technology-driven platform designed to facilitate the efficient redistribution of surplus food. The application serves as a bridge between food donors and receivers, including non-governmental organizations (NGOs), volunteers, and underprivileged communities. Through a user-friendly interface, donors can register and provide details regarding food type, quantity, availability time, and location. The system utilizes location-based services to identify nearby receivers and enable timely collection and distribution of food. Additional features such as real-time notifications, donation tracking, user authentication, and food quality verification enhance the reliability and effectiveness of the platform. The application is developed using modern web and mobile technologies supported by a centralized database for managing user information and donation records. The implementation results demonstrate improved coordination between donors and receivers, reduced food wastage, and increased participation in food donation activities. By promoting sustainable food management practices and encouraging social responsibility, the FoodBridge Application offers a practical and scalable solution for addressing hunger, minimizing food waste, and creating a positive social impact.
