Abstract

Abstract:

Purpose: This contribution aims to facilitate the filling line productivity of the paint industry by finding out the causes of the failures and their severity. This paper uses a proactive method FMEA for assessing the failures and risks affiliated with the filling line performance.

Methodology & approach: For finding various failure modes, we used FMEA techniques, the risk priority number (RPN) is calculated to find out causes and the occurrence of the failures. Such priority numbers usually required expert judgments that can contain numerous errors and imperfection due to bias nature, thus lead to wrong assessment in the filling line of the paint industry.

Findings: Results indicates that the Lid pressure component failure holds the highest RPN scores.

Originality: The present work is an attempt to use a proactive method (FMEA) in order to find out the components failures, in a filling line of the paint industry. A managerial perspective is also taken into consideration.
