Abstract

An international road map for building a sustainable future is offered by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Kerala, which is located in India's southwest, is a noteworthy case study. It acts as a model for places around the world and demonstrates how sustainable development may be seamlessly included into local governance and community initiatives. In this investigation, we will analyse Kerala's distinct strategy for implementing the SDGs, projecting global objectives onto regional settings, and revealing the achievements that have made it a model for other areas across the world. In almost every developing country, including India, self-help groups (SHGs) are becoming a vital instrument for the empowerment of poor women. . The influence of Kudumbashree on women and their communities has been revolutionary. In addition to improving general socioeconomic conditions, it has helped reduce poverty and boost women's employment. Kudumbashree supports economic empowerment and gender equality, which is in line with the SDGs. The study analyses data by conveniently collecting data from 175 self-help group members in Kerala’s Palakkad district through a questionnaire. A five-point Rensis Likert scale was used for measuring the qualitative data in the study. Demographic data has been analysed using percentage analysis. The impact of age on the perception of SHG members regarding the contribution of Kudumbashree towards the attainment of SDG 5 analysed using One way ANOVA which is carried out using SPSS software
