Abstract

In India, the banking sectors are divided into different groups which have its limitations in their operations. They have their own target market; most of them are only catering in cities and major towns, and some of them are catering to rural sector. Banking sector in India consists of the central banks, commercial banks, cooperative banks, cooperative banks and development banks. If public sector banks are allowed to perform without fear, the bulk of the problem will be solved. The key to increase the profitability of such banks is to increase the productivity. For this, we have to identify problems so as to tackle the challenges faced by the banks, particularly public sector banks.
