URBANIZATION IN INDIA: A REFLECTIVE STUDY FOR CAUSES

Abstract

Urbanization is not just a modern phenomenon; rather, it is a historic and swift change of human social roots occurring all over the world, with a rapid replacement of predominantly rural culture with predominantly urban culture. The adoption of a mixed economy by India resulted in the expansion of the private sector and the acceleration of urbanization. In India, urbanization is happening fairly quickly. Objective: to study the causes of Urbanization. Methodology: This study is descriptive in nature, relying on secondary sources such as census reports, books, articles, websites, and web-based journals published at various eras. Results and Discussion: Different causes for urbanization and its effects on us are discussed. Conclusion: There are numerous reasons why an area is becoming more urbanized. Urbanization is a result of development, modernization, and migration and is indicative of periodic changes in technology, institutions, education, communication, industry, and organization. Modernization, characterized by advancements in technology and changes in societal structures, is another pivotal driver of urbanization. Cities become centers of innovation and progress, attracting individuals seeking access to education, healthcare, and a more sophisticated lifestyle. The rise of industries and the demand for skilled labor intensify the urbanization trend, transforming traditional landscapes into bustling metropolises. Urbanization is indicative of periodic changes across various facets of society. Technological advancements influence the urban landscape, with smart cities emerging as a consequence of innovation. Institutions adapt to accommodate the growing urban population, leading to changes in governance, social structures, and public services. Education, too, undergoes transformation, with urban centers often hosting prestigious educational institutions that attract students and researchers.
