The Alabama Digital Preservation Network (ADPNet) is a distributed digital preservation network for locally created digital content. It represents a low-cost digital preservation solution for academic institutions, state agencies, and cultural heritage organizations in Alabama. Any Alabama institution with digital collections that are freely available to the public is invited to join ADPNet and use the network for archival preservation.
The mission of the CGI DPN is to preserve digital collections of government information. Digital preservation, for purposes of this policy, means ensuring the long-term viability of digital materials through geographically dispersed servers, protective measures against data loss, and forward format migration. Digital materials produced by government agencies that are at risk of being lost are preserved as part of the program. This network will also be used to act as a backup server in cases where the main server is unavailable. It will also act as a means of restoring lost data.
The Cariana Network arose from the need to create in the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT) a network of digital preservation services for Brazilian electronic documents, with the objective of guaranteeing continuous access in the long term.
CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) is a not-for-profit joint venture between the world’s leading academic publishers and research libraries whose mission is to build a sustainable, geographically distributed dark archive with which to ensure the long-term survival of Web-based scholarly publications for the benefit of the greater global research community.
The Digital Federal Depository Library Program, or the “USDocs” LOCKSS network, replicates key aspects of the United States Federal Depository Library Program. The content is held in geographically-distributed sites and replicated many times. Citizens have oversight and responsibility for the long-term care and maintenance of the content. All of these characteristics mean that the content will be preserved so that any alteration of the content (either deliberate or accidental) will be detected and repaired. For all documents, preservation in a tamper-evident environment is important, but for government documents, this is essential.
The Global LOCKSS Network is the original and most populous LOCKSS network, providing distributed preservation and local post-cancellation and perpetual access for subscription electronic journals and books, as well as a mechanism for building local collections of web-based scholarly open access publications.
The mission of the MetaArchive Cooperative is to foster better understanding of distributed digital preservation methods and to create enduring and stable, geographically dispersed “dark archives” of digital materials that can, if necessary, be drawn upon to restore collections at Member organizations.

PKP has developed the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) to digitally preserve OJS journals. The LOCKSS program offers decentralized and distributed preservation, seamless perpetual access, and preservation of the authentic original version of the content. The PKP PN ensures that journals that are not part of the Global LOCKSS Network, which primarily preserves content from larger publishers and vendors, or an existing PLN, which preserve small numbers of OJS journals hosted by member libraries, can be preserved using the LOCKSS program.
The SAFE Private LOCKSS Network is an international distributed preservation repository based on the LOCKSS technology.
