Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a branch of computer science that deals with creating computers or machines as intelligent as human beings. The term AI was first coined by John McCarthy in 1956 at the Dartmouth conference, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). AI is gradually entering into the area of Indian higher education. It could not be possible for our nation to achieve the target of higher education on quality education without using the superpower, often believed to be the new electricity for the 21st century. In this paper, an attempt has been made to present the role of AI in Indian higher education, the challenge in implementing this AI technology, and the suggestion in removing those challenges.
