Abstract

This study explores the important problem of unemployment in Uttarakhand, a state known for its mountains covered in snow, hills, and well-known pilgrimage sites. Tourism is the main driver of the region’s economic life and generates plenty of employment for the local population. This research explores at how the COVID-19 epidemic has affected employment prospects in Uttarakhand and looks into ways to find employment in the wake of the pandemic. It also addresses a variety of challenging issues, such as limitations in skill development, health concerns, migration issues, and susceptibility to natural disasters. Considering these challenges, the research highlights Uttarakhand’s attraction as a travel destination and its potential for rebuilding economic growth by providing insights that might guide targeted policy interventions and environmentally friendly development projects, this research seeks to illuminate the intricate relationship between tourism, unemployment, and various other socio-economic concerns in Uttarakhand. This research seeks to educate specific policy responses and support sustainable development initiatives through providing detailed insights. It highlights the complex relationships that exist in Uttarakhand between tourism, unemployment, and other socioeconomic demands. This study aims to provide avenues for utilizing tourism's potential as an employment and economic growth engine while addressing the region's particular difficulties and vulnerabilities through a multidimensional examination.
