Abstract

Development of Women entrepreneurship is an important part of human resource development of any society. Entrepreneurship amongst women in India has not been very encouraging and significant. In the past there has been some good development on this front, however, much is yet to happen. Over the period, women have become conscious of their rights. Though, women of middle class are not too willing to come out in the open. Hence, the progress is only visible among upper class families in urban cities of India. It is observed that the development of women entrepreneurship is low in India, especially in the rural areas. The present paper is based on primary and secondary data collected from different sources and specially focuses on women entrepreneurship. For collecting primary data the questionnaire has been used. We have also used observation and note making technique to collect primary data. The present study intends, to know the Women Entrepreneurship Development in Mulshi Taluka, and to know the role played by Self Help Groups – SHGs in Women Entrepreneurship Development. The study focuses to find the answer to challenges faced by women and also attempt is made to suggest measures on it.  The study is limited to only one Taluka i.e. Mulshi Taluka and sample of 55 women entrepreneurs from 25 SHGs of the Taluka are selected.
