Assessing Productivity Outcomes in Remote and Hybrid Work Environment

Abstract

In the third decade of the twenty-first century, remote work – particularly work from home – has become a widely adopted employment model across industries, driven by digital advancements and the demand for flexible work arrangements. This study examines the qualitative impact of remote and flexible work practices on employee well-being and productivity. The research focuses on four key dimensions: work– life balance, social interaction, perceived control over work, and access to organizational resources. Using a qualitative analytical approach, the study finds that voluntary remote work can enhance productivity by reducing commuting time, increasing autonomy, and improving flexibility in task management. However, the findings also reveal challenges associated with remote work, including social isolation, increased stress, and blurred boundaries between professional and personal life. Additionally, disparities in access to technological and organizational resources may influence employees’ remote work experiences. The study offers valuable insights for organizations seeking to implement sustainable work arrangements that balance flexibility with productivity while supporting employee well-being. It contributes to the growing body of literature on contemporary work practices and provides practical implications for organizational policy and human resource management.
